Bookkeeping Specialist
Job Summary

Performs basic to complex journal entries and bookkeeping tasks for a Member Care Department while ensuring accurate financial record keeping, resolving account variances, and supporting special projects.

Responsibilities
  • Process Member Care payments and adjustments.
  • Balance daily teller work and reconcile General Ledger transactions.
  • Post write-off accounts for loans, Visa, and negative shares.
  • Type repossession documents and fax to assigned vendors.
  • Close open Line-of-Credits loans.
  • Update member accounts to reflect agency-assigned accounts.
  • Draw corporate checks as needed.
  • Comply with state and federal laws and credit union compliance regulations.
  • Manually set up negative shares, Visa, and loan charge-offs.
  • Review and distribute incoming mail through a dual control process.
  • Administer the expulsion process including account cross-referencing and drafting corporate checks.
  • Process bankruptcy-related documents, discharges, dismissals, and proofs of claim.
  • Post and balance Chapter 13 payments, collection agency, and attorney suit payments;type related claims.
  • Prepare and send Gap and Warranty Cancellation letters and process refund checks.
  • Maintain a record of Gap and Warranty remittances and follow up with dealerships as needed.
  • Research and resolve account variances and member concerns.
  • Create and send deficiency balance letters for repossessed vehicles.
  • Assist the supervisor on collection projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Utilize auto vehicle tilting experience as needed.
  • Manage a project to catalog and disposition up to 10, 000 California Paper Titles.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed and accurate journal entries and bookkeeping tasks.
  • Strong understanding of credit union compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Skill
  • Proficiency in financial record keeping and General Ledger reconciliation.
  • Attention to detail in processing payments and adjustments.
  • Experience with managing write-offs and document handling.

Summary Qualification
  • Academic background in accounting or finance with proven bookkeeping experience.
  • Familiarity with compliance, regulatory procedures, and credit union operations.
  • Ability to multitask and provide support for special projects.
