Highly regarded prestigious winery in Napa seeks an HR Specialist/Generalist. 

OBJECTIVE: This position is responsible  for all aspects of human resources, including employee relations, staffing, recruiting, compliance, benefits administration, performance management, safety, and bi-weekly payroll. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and uphold integrity while providing exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following reflect definition of essential functions for the job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time.
  • Analyze, prepare, input, process and reconcile payroll. Use ADP system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensure compliance with all applicable State and Federal wage and hour laws
  • Administer payroll-related functions including but not limited to processing new hires, terminations, status changes, tax withholding changes, wage garnishments, deductions, and direct deposit requests
  • Respond to all payroll-related inquiries including but not limited to payroll deductions, wage garnishments, child support payments, vacation and sick accruals, and employment verifications; resolves employee pay issues
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll requirements and best practices and continually reassess our compliance with them
  • Continuously improve policies/programs/practices, ensuring compliance with Federal and State labor laws
  • Maintain personnel records, ensuring compliance with current regulations
  • Administer employee benefits programs such as retirement plans; medical, dental, vision plans; life insurance plans; temporary disability programs; and wellness programs
  • Handle benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution; educate employees on company benefit programs
  • Responsible for the administration of all Leaves of Absence; respond to unemployment claims, handle interactive processes, and employee relations issues
  • Responsible for workers compensation claims and safety programs
  • Maintain accident/injury log, along with IIPP and Safety Records, up-to-date
  • Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company policies and values, as well as governmental laws and regulations (including ADA, FMLA, PFL and PDL)
  • Responsible for employee relations issues, conducting investigations to provide clarification
  • Responsible for disciplinary actions, emphasizing solutions to improve quality of work
  • Responsible for the employment process, including recruitment, screening, interviewing, selection, onboarding and orientation
  • Assist management in the annual performance review
  • Develop and administer of health & safety training programs
  • Promote health and safety with the goal of maintaining a safe, healthy and accident free environment
  • Assure required labor law posters/information is in place
  • Ensure all I-9’ s are maintained
  • Coordinate temp labor during harvest

 

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3 years of progressive HR experience
  • Bachelor’ s degree or equivalent
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Federal and State (CA) labor laws
  • Strong interpersonal, problem resolution, mediation, negotiation and consulting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and HRIS product
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) desired

 

Requirements:
  • Willingness and ability to:
    • Lift and handle materials weighing up to 35 pounds
    • Sit at desk for extended periods
    • Grasp, stoop, squat, climb stairs, push or pull, carry, and reach over shoulder
