Real Estate Accountant

Large client in NW Phoenix has an immediate opening for a Real Estate Accountant.

Qualifications:
*Four year college degree in accounting or equivalent experience
*Three or more years accounting experience in a larger organization with mainframe-based accounting systems
*Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
*Advanced level PC skills with knowledge of Windows & Microsoft software applications
*MRI, Yardi or other property management systems a plus
*Superior customer service attitude and interpersonal skills
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*High degree of accuracy, initiative, and adaptability
*Detail oriented with solid analytical skills
*Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
*Self-motivated and ability to complete tasks with a minimum of supervision
*Independent decision making
*Honest and trustworthy, exhibiting sound business ethics

Key Responsibilities
*Review leases for percentage rent and process accurately and timely

*Process percentage rent accruals

*Process percentage rent payments

*Responsible for account reconciliations

*Review tenant leases and communicate changes for MRI system updates
*Coordinate with coworkers and business to create process efficiencies
*Prepare periodic financial statements/reports for management
*Responsible for coordinating and ensuring all tasks are completed on time
*Take the lead on projects requiring research, organization, communication and problem resolution
*Responsible for providing guidance to internal/external customers
*Support team members on all accounting issues
*Accountable for maintaining departmental applications and system functionalities requiring a high level of decision making and technical abilities
*Coordinate audits conducted by internal/external entities
*Conduct special studies and develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures
*Create standard and adhoc reports utilizing various applications: QMF, DME, Essbase, Access, Excel, ODBC, Lawson Report Writer
*Train and assist team members in specific accounting tasks and in the use of systems
*Any and all job duties assigned

Originally from Texas (and fortunately / unfortunately still a Cowboys fan), Heidi has been involved with recruiting since 1992. She was recruited by Wollborg Michelson to open their new Phoenix division as business began to rapidly expand. Her philosophy for recruiting is focusing more on the “gray” of the resume vs. the “black and white”. She looks for what’s not on the resume just as much as she looks for what is on it. The reality is, employees tend to leave a company due to the culture or environment. She strives to find the personality aspect that is so important in making sure an employee is viewing the position as a career, not simply a job. You will find that she will ask her clients as many questions regarding the culture of the company as she does the job requirements. Skills can be trained; it’s that right personality she’s after. In her “off” time, Heidi is the Founder and CEO (Chief Elf Officer) of Christmas Milk® Brands eggnog. A seasonal beverage she created after she and her husband adopted the first of what ended up being four children out of the foster care system (there’s a wonderful story behind the name). She is an advocate of adoption through the foster care system and donates a portion of profits each year from her Christmas Milk® sales to help more children in foster care find their forever home. When she’s not spending time with her family, she’s spending time with her “4-legged” family as she also has 5 rescue dogs. Let’s just say Heidi is good at multi-tasking.
