Benefits and Wellness Manager


Job Summary


Oversees the administration of employee benefits, wellness programs, and leave of absence processes. Ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations, leads the benefits team, and contributes to the development and execution of human resources strategies as part of the HR leadership team.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, ancillary, retirement, time off, and wellness plans.
  • Plan, evaluate, and improve benefits programs, including vendor relations, negotiations, contract management, benchmarking, cost analysis, and policy and strategy development.
  • Develop proposals and implement new or revised benefit plans, including preparation and review of communications and plan summaries;participate in employee benefit events.
  • Manage annual open enrollment, including renewals, negotiations, contracts, enrollment processing, and communications.
  • Enhance employee benefits communication strategies to increase understanding, utilization, and perceived value of programs.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through scheduling, documentation, policy management, and continuous improvement of benefit plans and processes.
  • Oversee preparation of required reports, filings, and applications for federal and state agencies.
  • Manage carrier bill reconciliation, internal and external audits, and benefits-related cost control measures.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including those related to financial services compliance as relevant to the role.
  • Promote a positive, engaging work environment by supporting skill development, coaching, and strong employee morale aligned with organizational mission, vision, and values.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategy and participate in executive planning and oversight meetings.
  • Identify regulatory requirements and risks related to job responsibilities, establish controls to mitigate those risks, and ensure operational integrity and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by executive leadership.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience;professional certifications such as SPHR, CPP, or CEBS preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in health and welfare benefits administration and 401(k) administration for a large workforce.
  • Minimum of seven years of management experience preferred.

Summary Qualification
  • Extensive experience designing, administering, and optimizing employee benefit and wellness programs.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and participate in executive-level planning.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable federal and state benefits and compliance regulations.
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale open enrollment and vendor relationships.
  • Background in risk management, policy development, and process improvement within HR functions.

  • Expertise in health, welfare, and retirement plan administration.
  • Vendor and contract negotiation and management.
  • Benefits communication strategy and employee education.
  • Regulatory compliance, reporting, and audit oversight.
  • Leadership, coaching, and team development.
