Job Description
ITEM PROCESSING TECHNICIAN I
Job Summary
Provide high-level service to members and branch personnel by processing deposits, remittance, and transit transactions efficiently. Maintain accurate records and balance daily transactions in accordance with established procedures while ensuring compliance with relevant state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Process and balance mailed and electronically received deposits, branch transit checks, and ATM deposits by reviewing, adjusting, and holding imaged deposits per established procedures.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from members, branches, and contact centers;post journal vouchers for accounting adjustments.
- Adhere to state and federal laws, including regulations on anti-money laundering and bank secrecy.
- Prepare files for transmission and assist in the creation of daily balance sheets.
- Log and maintain check records following established policies;monitor live checks and ensure proper destruction per standards.
- Perform system validation during upgrades or changes and report issues for timely vendor resolution.
- Participate in departmental projects and identify/report fraudulent activities to prevent potential losses.
- Process and balance exceptions by completing corrections within established timelines.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Six months of experience in a financial institution.
- Ability to accurately operate computer terminals and standard office equipment.
- Physical capacity for prolonged sitting with occasional movement;requires corrected vision and normal hearing.
Skill
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Professional member relations and telephone etiquette.
- Proficiency in using personal computers and financial calculators.
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
Summary Qualification
- Completion of high school curriculum.
- Experience in a financial setting is preferred.
- Understanding of compliance regulations related to financial transactions.
- Proven ability to maintain accuracy and balance in daily operations.
