Job Description
MEMBER CARE ESCALATIONS REP
Job Summary
Performs as an experienced, well-trained representative handling escalated member care issues by using advanced communication and negotiation skills to resolve delinquent accounts and promote account retention.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties of a Member Care Representative as needed.
- Contact members to develop acceptable, tailored repayment plans through effective negotiation.
- Resolve delinquent account issues by discussing financial arrangements, potential legal actions, and counseling options.
- Utilize specialized knowledge in negative shares, repossessions, suits, foreclosures, and bankruptcies.
- Process requests for repossession reinstatement and redemption.
- Manage charge-off accounts and related expulsion processes.
- Comply with state and federal regulations, including anti-money laundering standards.
- Document all communications and account actions accurately.
- Maintain updated records of account payments and statuses.
- Follow departmental procedures and support overall collection objectives.
- Foster positive relationships with members and internal teams while handling sensitive financial information.
- Demonstrate proficiency with other credit union products, procedures, and systems.
- Handle escalated inquiries from members and staff as required.
- Assist supervisors with special projects and additional tasks.
- Ensure adherence to credit union policies and fair debt collection practices.
- Support the department during supervisor absences and engage in other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of three years’experience in collections within a credit union environment, including exposure to VISA transactions, negative shares, and loans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid understanding of credit union policies, collection practices, and regulatory guidelines.
Skill
- Advanced negotiation and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in operating computer terminals, financial calculators, and standard office equipment.
- Excellent record-keeping and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
- Adept at managing high volumes of telephone communication.
- Capability to handle escalated member inquiries and account reviews effectively.
Summary Qualification
- High school diploma with substantial experience in debt collections.
- Proven ability to design sophisticated repayment plans.
- In-depth knowledge of credit union products and regulatory compliance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
